NUS LGBT Award 2008

n504602745_804690_4168

At the 2008 NUS LGBT Awards the University of Essex was awarded the accolade of Best Students Union.

The NUS LGBT Awards recognised the excellence, innovation and inclusivity within the LGBT student movement.

LGBT societies do a fantastic job of supporting LGBT students and campaigning for their rights, but they should never be working alone. All members of the student community can and should be involved in tackling homophobia, biphobia and transphobia, and making their university or college a safer and better place for LGBT students to study.

A supportive Students’ Union makes a big difference to the student experience of LGBT students, ensuring that their needs are recognised and acted on.

This award recognises that the University of Essex Student’s Union is the most LGBT student inclusive in the UK.
