NUS LGBT Award 2010

At the 2010 NUS LGBT Awards, the University of Essex LGBT Society were awarded with the Higher Education LGBT Society of the Year.

University of Essex LGBT has proved its success in the development of its society, with its ever increasing number of active members, including a dramatic increase in female members. Ongoing campaigns including ‘Donation not Discrimination’, which was organised by the Students Union LGBT Officer and Committee achieved over 500 signatures on a petition against the ban on gay and bisexual men giving blood. This shows the dedication and consistent effort the committee and members provide to the Society, which has been recognised nationally.

This brilliant achievement aims to be continued, and with the equal number of men to women on the newly formed committee, we hope to represent you equally and respectfully.
