The University Equality & Diversity Unit

Working with the Equality and Diversity Committee (EADC), the Equality and Diversity Unit (the unit), has a major input into establishing equality policy at the University.  The unit advises the University and the EADC along with departments and sections on good equality practice and the requirements and responsibilities arising from equality legislation.

The unit also runs equality and diversity training and there are a range of equality and diversity courses and briefings on offer or on request.  These can be found at:http://www.essex.ac.uk/eo/courses/coursedefault.htm

The Equality and Diversity Officer runs the Harassment Advisory Network and the unit recruits and trains Harassment Advisers from across the University.  Working with the Director of Human Resources and the Proctor’s Office, the unit helps to deal with formal complaints of harassment or discrimination.  Guidelines for dealing with harassment and details of the Harassment Advisory Network can be found at:

http://www.essex.ac.uk/eo/harassment/harassmentdefault.htm

The Equality and Diversity Officer is happy to help with any questions or concerns relating to equality, diversity, harassment or discrimination.  Further information including policies and contact details can be found on the relevant pages of this site.
